Topic/Problem:
A year long research project centered around defining what rest means in today’s world and how we might design for it.
Solution:
For my final deliverable, I am designing a Handbook as well as two examples of clothing for restful activities. The goal of this project is to educate designers as to how to design for restful activities, such as: reading, being in nature, listening to music, doing nothing in particular, and being alone. This handbook follows two pieces I design and make with the principles of rest guiding the process. Because rest has manifold definitions and manifestations, this handbook doesn’t provide rigid guidelines but instead larger concepts to explore and consider when designing clothing for rest.
