Rochele Royster, art therapist and assistant professor in the Department of Creative Arts Therapy, facilitated wellness workshops for a community art project, helping women explore themes of home, safety, and renewal while painting.
The workshops culminated in a design for a street mural, installed at 1100 N. McBride St., Syracuse, by artist Daniela Nikolavsky. The project, initiated by Her Village, a wellness group for new American, refugee women, was made possible by Ocara Fine Arts Gallery, ME/WE Creative Arts Lab & Community Art Therapy Studio, and Hopeprint, Inc.
