University Union, the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ Department of Transmedia and 20th Century Fox are proud to present an advance screening of “Red Sparrow.” Syracuse University is one of six colleges across the country selected to participate in this special advance screening of “Red Sparrow” that will be followed with a virtual Q&A with star Jennifer Lawrence and director Francis Lawrence. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, in Shemin Auditorium in Shaffer Art Building. The live-streamed Q&A will take place at 9:30 p.m. immediately following the screening. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
After suffering a career-ending injury, prima ballerina Dominika Egorova faces a future of uncertainty with her mother. Egorova is soon recruited by the Sparrow School in Russian, a secret intelligence service that trains their students to use their minds and bodies as manipulative weapons. Upon completion of the school’s ruthless training, Egorova emerges the most dangerous Sparrow the school has produced yet. Her first mission targets a CIA agent, and possible mole. The security of both nations are at risk as the CIA agent tries to convince Egorova he is the only person she can trust. “Red Sparrow” is a suspenseful thriller directed by Francis Lawrence and is set to hit theaters on Friday, March 2. It stars Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts and Charlotte Rampling and is distributed by 20th Century Fox.
