An educator and band director at the secondary level, Michael Coldren is instructor of tuba and euphonium at the Setnor School of Music.

He received a bachelor of music degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam’s Crane School of Music, where he studied tuba with Peter Popiel and received the Outstanding Performer’s Certificate. He received a master of music degree from Arizona State University, where he studied with Dan Perantoni.

Coldren has performed with the Binghamton Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Northern New York, the Syracuse Symphony, the Syracuse Symphony Brass Quintet, and the Potsdam Brass Quintet; has performed on the international level with the Crane School of Music’s wind ensemble; and is a member of the Central Winds. Additionally, he has been the featured guest soloist with the Ithaca Community Band, the Central Winds, and several area high school ensembles. He has participated in the Access All Areas camp with Patrick Sheridan and Sam Pilafian as well as the Raphael Mendez Brass Institute in Denver. He is active as a guest soloist and guest conductor and maintains a private studio as well.
