As librarian, they manage the collection development of books, scores and serials in print and electronic formats, make recommendations for preservation, retention and deselection, work with staff to enhance services offered to the Libraries’ diverse and specialized users, and participate in various Libraries and University committees. They have served as chair and vice-chair of the New York State–Ontario chapter of the Music Library Association. They are also an active member of the Music Library Association, the New York State–Ontario Chapter of the Music Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries Digital Scholarship Section, the Art Libraries Society of North America, and the Association for Recorded Sound Collections.
In addition to their work in the Libraries, DuBose teaches a graduate course on research in music and an undergraduate course on the history of recorded sound. They appear on Mark Custom and Naxos recordings as an oboist and English hornist, play four-in-hand handbells, have researched in medieval music manuscripts, and their writings on 20th century music and musicians have appeared in Salem Press monographs.
They received an M.S. in information science and learning technology in 2012 from the University of Missouri, where they also received a B.M. in oboe performance in 2005. They earned an M.M. with a dual emphasis in musicology and performance at the University of Kansas in 2008 and a certificate of advanced study in data science from Syracuse University in 2024.
