Alex Jainchill is a professor of practice of theater design and technology in the Department of Drama with a focus on lighting design.

Recent designs have been featured at Playwright Horizons, Manhattan Class Company, Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Geffen Playhouse, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Arena Stage, and Cleveland Playhouse.

Jainchill has been the associate lighting director on two Broadway shows: “Old Times” (American Airlines) and “Significant Other” (Booth). He was also the associate lighting director on the world premiere of “Dear Evan Hansen.”

Jainchill studied lighting design and visual arts at Rice University and is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.
