May 14, 2020

Alex Mendez Giner, associate professor of film in the Department of Transmedia, had his new experimental film “Displaced” screened at the 23rd International Encounters Traverse in Toulouse, France.

It also screened at the Human Rights Arts Festival in North Dakota at the Plains Art Museum and was selected for the 68th Columbus International Film & Animation Festival.

Filmmaker’s statement:

“Displaced” is a poetic experiment, an opportunity to explore my experiences of constant movement between distant geographic spaces.

“Displaced” is an attempt to understand my thoughts and feelings as an immigrant.

“Displaced” is a lament, my attempt at understanding the absurd historic recurrence.

Still from "Displaced"
