Recent graduates of the communications design program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ School of Design were honored for work they created as students.

Erin Reeves ’18 won a gold award in the Graphis New Talent Annual 2019 for “Borderland Distilling Co.,” design packaging work for a fictitious, family-owned distillery.

Graphis presents and promotes the work of exceptional talent in design, advertising, photography and art/illustration.

Alison Emmel ’18 and Sami Albert ’18 had student work selected to appear in Creative Quarterly’s “100 Best Annual 2018” in the graphic design top 25 list. They also had their work featured in a New York City exhibition. They were previously named winners of the international Creative Quarterly 54 competition in the graphic design student category.

Creative Quarterly is an international journal focusing on promoting the best work in graphic design, illustration, photography and fine art.

Communications designers translate ideas and information through a variety of media. The School of Design’s communications design program leads to a bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree. Classes are modeled on professional practice, and students develop the ability to solve real-world problems along with a variety of skills in graphic media.
