Artist Statement

Oksana Kazmina is a Ukrainian documentary film maker, media artist, and performer.

Russian missile ZM22, which flies at a speed of approximately 11,600 km per hour, recently landed in downtown Kyiv, Ukraine. Launched from Crimea, it reached its destination in three minutes. The target was M. Boychuk State Institute of Decorative Arts and Design. This super fast missile, which is hard to intercept by air defense systems, is a new challenge of war. Tomorrow might (will) bring a new challenge.

The art institution ruined holds the name after Mykhailo Boychuk, a Ukrainian artist who was repressed and killed by “Stalin regime” in the 1930s.

This statement is about new temporality, which I (we) live through and which does not align with yours. There is no language to explain this at the moment. Maybe there will be some in the future. I (we) should become history first.
