Artist Statement

Humans always long for divine power yet fear a Prometheus-like fate. Each era's scientific advancements provoke similar worries. In Mary Shelley's time, scientists just touched upon life sciences; the discovery of bioelectricity was enough to animate a man-made creature. Since then, the hopes and fears encountered in exploration have become timeless subjects for creation — clones, android, and AI. They, in a way, relive the story of Frankenstein and his creation. For me, this enduring interest stems from how the created beings think independently from their creators and embody the fantasy of escaping death. So, I wrote my own version and created images for them.
