Marks current practices involve constructing paintings and sculptures with deliberate attention to physical and optical illusions. His works reflect his genuine interest in visual phenomena and how the eye (mind) perceives color, pattern and dimension. Marks obsession with pattern and repetition starts in his studio practices and carries into his paintings and sculptures. He works with oil, acrylic, spray paint and steel to construct geometric abstractions that please as well as deceive his viewers perception. His paintings use simple flat shapes, lines and contrasting colors to visually transform the obvious two dimensional painting surface. .
