Artist Statement

I create worlds and isolated fragments of realities that mirror a specific memory or moment of unease, and in those worlds, I perform and sing. I relive the memory and share it with the observer to bond, better understand, and reframe its importance in the present. My worlds are abstract, surreal, and dream-like. The characters inhabiting those worlds are my alter egos stuck in their reality, trying to understand and resist it or becoming aware of a revelation that is occurring and celebrating it. They want to communicate with whoever is on the other side of the medium. My recurring themes revolve around gender, sexuality, ethnicity and space, social media ecology, inclusion, and seclusion. I believe artists are natural symbol seekers and decoders. Throughout my work, I carry marks that were important to previous makers, adjust them to my present, and offer them back to anyone seeking them.
