Artist Statement

My practice follows the dynamic, unruly phenomenon of ice melting to arrive at divergent ways in which I challenge the perspective of ice being a passive agent. From photo sculptures to cyanotypes, to ice sculptures and durational performances, I employ gestures of attentive sensorial engagement to work with my cold collaborator.

Each methodology penetrates the visually elusive icy exterior to pry open a few more details about this vibrant and performative matter. The various modes of working and thinking with ice bring to surface the tensions between human and non-human agencies, troubling the conditions that inform our perception of the more than human world.
