Artist Statement

My art evolved through meditation, and my studio practice allowed me to separate myself from time. Separating my studio practice from time, allowed my sculptures to become more free-form, and less illustrative or representative of specific structures, and thus more of a celebration of nature.

Artist Bio

Grace Kerr (She/Her) was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She received a B.F.A. degree in ceramics from Queens College, City University of New York. She then decided to leave her full-time job in fashion in New York City to further her practice and pursue an M.F.A. degree at Syracuse University. Her sculptures are abstract, derived intuitively from her meditation practice. While "Cave" initially inspired her work, her spiritual growth has broadened her artistic direction to celebrate nature. The tunnels with wavy openings in her work are based on concepts learned from her experiences in meditation practice.
