Artist Statement

Albert Camus’ concept of absurdity, as described in "The Myth of Sisyphus," explores the perpetual struggle between humans and the world’s inherent meaninglessness. In my interpretation, the punishment extends beyond Sisyphus to the boulder itself, symbolizing the shared burden of their futile efforts. In my work, I envision a pivotal moment of awakening, where the boulder is liberated as Sisyphus finally pushes it over the mountain’s peak, signifying a break from its eternal cycle. The boulder’s fall, while seemingly liberating, plunges it into the vast unknown, reflecting the ever-changing and unpredictable nature of existence, thereby reinforcing the profound essence of absurdity. This depiction of the boulder’s fall invites viewers to contemplate the boundless impermanence of life and the nuanced layers of absurdity that define our existence.
