A Question of Consideration

The intention of my work is to provide new frameworks for critical engagement with historically learned systems of value and create spaces for the consideration of alternative ones. This intention materializes through the re-contextualization of materials associated with my personal histories in construction and manual labor and the consideration of the terms regarding accessibility and collaboration in private and public spaces.

A Question of Consideration removes OSB (Oriented Strand Board) from its utilitarian function to position it as an artwork. Produced as a low-cost alternative to plywood for use in construction, OSB often functions as a physical barrier in boarding up the windows and doors before and after a storm or riot, its message being “keep away” and “keep out”.

Here, the OSB panel acts as a window itself-as a physical object, image, and augmented reality. By scanning the QR code on the side of the panel, one opens an entirely different realm of perception
