Elisa Dekaney, professor of music education in the Setnor School of Music and School of Education and VPA’s associate dean of research, graduate studies, and internationalization, recently delivered the keynote speech “Utilizing Multiple Research Methodologies to Examine the Intersections of Music, Race, and Food in Brazilian Culture: Applications to Choral Research” at the 2022 American Choral Directors Association Symposium on Research in Choral Singing.
Dekaney also gave the talk “Humanizing music experiences through the decolonization of the music curriculum” for the Racial Bias and Equity in Music Webinar Series sponsored by the University of Miami’s Office of Civic Community and Engagement, Multicultural Student Affairs, and the Butler Center for Service and Leadership.
