Samantha Olszewski

Samantha is an enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated Syracuse University student who excels at meeting deadlines and has a willingness to learn new skills.  She is well rounded in various forms of design (including digital, theatrical, and visual) due to studying media arts in high school and theatre design in college. During her time in high school, Sam worked on more than thirty shows which included stage managing Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center’s annual production of The Nutcracker.  While in college at SU Drama, she assistant stage managed The House of the Spirits, was the assistant set designer to Joey Moro on The Baltimore Waltz, Maria Marrero on The Crucible, and the assistant costume designer to Carmen Martinez for The Wild Party. In 2019-2020 she was chosen by the SU faculty for the Arthur Storch award for Theatre Design. Sam also achieved a minor in Accounting and had the pleasure of studying studio arts during a semester abroad in Florence, Italy. 

Most recently, Sam was the scenic designer for Blackbox Player’s production of Lonely Planet at SU Drama.  She also was the set designer for SU Drama’s mainstage production of The Matchmaker.  In the summer of 2019, she was the set/props designer for Gretna Theatre’s three-show kids’ series during which she designed, built, and painted the scenery and props.  Sam also worked as a part-time production assistant at  Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center where she worked as a  carpenter and scenic painter for four years.
