The Setnor School of Music offers non-music majors a number of opportunities to participate in an ensemble, take private lessons, and enroll in group classes.

In the fall 2016 semester, non-music majors may enroll in a number of small and large ensembles without an audition, including those in jazz and commercial music and classical music. These ensembles include the Syracuse University Marching Band, Women’s Choir, Concert Choir, Samba Laranja (the SU Brazilian Ensemble), Rock Band, and jazz combos.

Group classes are offered for those non-music majors who wish to learn how to sing or play piano or guitar. Private lessons are available for non-music majors in classical music (all instruments and voice) as well as jazz (piano, guitar, bass, drumset, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and voice).
