Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts invites you to attend a National Portfolio Day on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Schine Student Center on the Syracuse University campus. Portfolio reviews will take place from noon-4 p.m. Registration will begin at 10 a.m; be advised that a line may form prior to the start of registration. This event is free and open to the public, and reservations are not required.
Attending this National Portfolio Day is an opportunity for those who wish to pursue an education and career in the visual and related arts to meet with representatives from institutions offering professional programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
Please remember to check the portfolio requirements for each school in which you are interested. Portfolios usually include approximately 12 to 20 pieces of your best and most recent work, as well as works-in-progress, sketchbooks, or tear sheets. A clean, neat presentation best compliments your work. Work does not need to be matted or mounted. Loose, clean sheets of paper between each piece of work are recommended. Whenever possible, you should bring your original artwork. If you bring slides (of work that is too large or fragile to carry) or digital media (of work that is time-based, such as video, animation, or performance) it is your responsibility to ensure that the work can be viewed. You may choose to bring your own slide viewer, mobile device, video camera and/or laptop to show your work. Be advised however, that you will not have access to an electric outlet.
