If you are interested in public relations, media and entertainment, law and politics, or advertising and marketing, the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies provides a comprehensive understanding of the role of communication in contemporary society.
The curriculum is designed to enhance your leadership skills through a combination of courses that broadly survey the contexts in which communication takes place. Among the contexts you will examine are interpersonal relationships; small decision-making groups; organization-wide communications; public, political, and mediated contexts; and patterns of cultural and intercultural communication. Equally important is the flexibility that graduates acquire to help them meet the ever-changing demands of the marketplace, the community, and private life.
All prospective undergraduate students applying to the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies must meet Syracuse University's general requirements. There are no additional program requirements.
