The Syracuse University Oratorio Society, founded in 1975, is a mixed vocal ensemble comprised of SU students and community members who enrich the Syracuse community through education and development of choral music. The Society encourages member participants to strive for and achieve personal musical excellence in the choral setting. Student choral members have additional opportunities for creativity in conducting and composing works.

The first-rate musical choir specializes in choral works from the Renaissance to the present. Repertoire also includes international, multi-cultural and commissioned works. The Oratorio Society has a brilliant sound that was greeted with enthusiasm at its debut performance in Carnegie Hall in 1978.

Under the direction of Dr. Elisa Dekaney, assistant professor of music education, the choir rehearses at the prestigious Crouse College at SU. Many performances are collaborated with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and are held at various locations in the Syracuse community, including the Mulroy Civic Center, Crouse College, and Most Holy Rosary Church.
