Peter Beasecker, an associate professor of ceramics in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ (VPA) School of Art, is featured in the January issue of Ceramics Monthly. In the article “Peter Beasecker: A Multi-Avenue Exploration,” he discusses his new work, his artistic mentors, and his studio in Cazenovia, N.Y.
Beasecker joined the VPA faculty in 2009. He received a B.S. degree from Miami University and an M.F.A. degree from Alfred University. He has been recognized for many years as a maker of quiet, elegant porcelain pots reflecting a studied and haptic sensibility. His recent work has concentrated on “carriers,” dark stoneware vessels holding numerous porcelain cups or bowls. He also continues his porcelain work making simple plates, bowls and vases.
