Internationally acclaimed artist Carrie Mae Weems, who received an honorary doctor of fine arts degree from Syracuse University in 2017 and is considered one of the most influential contemporary American artists, was profiled in T: The New York Times Style Magazine article “How Carrie Mae Weems Rewrote the Rules of Image-Making.” She is one of eight cover subjects in the magazines “2018 Greats” issue, available Oct. 21.

Related to the profile, the magazine also published the article “8 Artists on the Influence of Carrie Mae Weems," which includes a reflection by renowned artist and photographer LaToya Ruby Frazier G’07, a graduate of the art photography program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ Department of Transmedia. Frazier described Weems as her “teacher and mentor” while she was a student at Syracuse.
