Greater Syracuse Honors Middle School Concert Band

The Greater Syracuse Honors Middle School Concert Band is open to sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade band students by nomination of their band director. Directed by Dr. Bradley Ethington and sponsored by the Setnor School of Music, the band rehearses and performs at SU from June 9-24.

SUmmer Stomp is a collaborative, immersive workshop experience for area middle and high school students (entering 6th-12th grade in fall 2012) who are interested in developing performance art that incorporates music, percussion, dance, video production, graphic art and design, photography, live sound audio engineering, lighting, concert production, music business strategies, and media marketing and promotions.

SU's Music Access Technology Project (MTAP) is a collaborative project with its key purpose to investigate and design adaptive recording technology and to educate faculty, professionals, and others who teach or professionally use recording equipment about adaptations.

This all-volunteer community/university orchestra is in its 31st year of bringing masterworks and great soloists to the Syracuse community. The concert will feature Slaughter on Tenth Avenue by Richard Rogers, Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofé, and The Cowboys by John Williams. The performance will be under the direction of James R. Tapia, associate professor of music in the Setnor School of Music.
