Shawn Daly
Shawn Daly holds a Bachelor of Music from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania and Masters degrees in piano performance and accompanying from Syracuse University. In 2007, he was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Daly's distinguished teachers and coaches include Galen Deibler, Frank Weinstock, Robert Weirich, George Pappastavrou, Arlene Shrut, Steven Heyman, and Eileen Brown. He has been heard in masterclasses with Pierre Souvairan, Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff, William Black, James Tocco and Oscar-winning composer, John Corigliano.
Much in demand as an accompanist and chamber player, Dr. Daly has been heard in recitals and broadcasts throughout the U. S. and Great Britain. Highlights of the past several seasons include a live broadcast on Chicago's WFMT from the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, the 57th Annual American Music Festival at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the "Pianists of the World" Concerts at London's historic St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Music at Earlsdon Series (UK) and a recital at the University of Warwick (Coventry, UK). In March of 2001, the National Federation of Music Clubs awarded Dr. Daly the Faye and John Abild Prize in American Music.
Dr. Daly has taught at Susquehanna University, Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and the Toedtman School of Music in Cincinnati. An active church musician, Dr. Daly's liturgical expertise includes the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran traditions. He is a former organist/choirmaster at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio (the oldest parish in the Archdiocese) and the Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio.
