We offer both on- and off-campus opportunities for you to learn more about the School of Art and Design. Many of the dates and locations listed below also give you the opportunity to have a portfolio review, a requirement for students applying to the School of Art and Design. Please refer to our sections on Portfolio Requirements and Portfolio Preparation to see specific portfolio guidelines.

ON CAMPUS

SPRING RECEPTIONS
Spring Receptions are for admitted students and are held in April. These open-house days are similar to our Fall Receptions except that no portfolio reviews are available. Reservations may be made by calling 315-443-3611 or online at http://admissions.syr.edu/rf/sr/sr08.cfm Please prepare for all kinds of weather. Dress in layers, wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella. Our 2008 dates are:

  • Friday, April 11
  • Monday, April 14
  • Friday, April 18
  • Monday, April 21
  • Friday, April 25
Schedule:
8:30 am: Registration
9 am: Admissions welcome and presentation
10:30 am: School of Art and Design presentation and tour of facilities
12:15 pm: Lunch in the Carrier Dome and Campus Life Expo
Afternoon options include VPA Open House, residence hall tours, and campus tours.


INFORMATION SESSIONS
Reservations are required and can be made by calling 315-443-2769. Information session appointments are available with a representative from the college's Office of Recruitment and Admissions Monday through Friday throughout the year. The appointment includes information on:

  • School of Art and Design programs
  • Portfolio requirements
  • The application process
  • A portfolio review if you wish. This can be a final or an "advise only" review.

OFF CAMPUS

NEW YORK CITY
On Saturday, April 5, 2008, we will host information sessions for admitted students at Lubin House, 11 East 61st Street, New York. We invite you and your family to join us for the following programs:
 
1 – 3 pm

Department of Drama
Communication and Rhetorical Studies

4 – 6 pm 
School of Art and Design 
Department of Transmedia

The presentations will cover items of a broad interest within each area, and there will be an opportunity for question and answers. If you would like to attend, please make a reservation by calling Lubin House at 212-826-0335.

On Sunday, April 6, 2008, from 3 to 5 pm we will host an information session at the Sheraton Needham Hotel located at 100 Cabot Street, Needham, MA. We invite you and your family to join us for a presentation. We will cover items of a broad interest within each area, and there will be an opportunity for question and answers.
