School of Art and Design

All prospective undergraduate students applying to the School of Art and Design must meet Syracuse University's general requirements and submit a portfolio for review to complete their application. We have included an admissions checklist (PDF) for your convenience.

Portfolio reviews may be completed in person or by mail. For specific information on the portfolio review, please visit our sections on Submitting Your Portfolio, Portfolio Requirements, and Portfolio Preparation.

All prospective freshmen must meet the following University deadlines to guarantee full consideration for admission and financial aid. Portfolios may be reviewed before or after you submit your application but should meet these deadlines:

EARLY DECISION
November 15: Portfolio reviews and application postmarked deadline.

REGULAR DECISION
January 1: Application postmarked deadline.
January 1: Portfolios by mail must be postmarked.
February 1: In-person portfolio reviews must be completed. Financial aid forms are due.

Scholastic Art Award
VPA awards a scholarship to a gold medal recipient in art or photography from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Visit Scholastic for details on how to enter its competition.
