History of Art

The bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree program in history of art is intended for students who have a strong interest in art history and studio art. Through a broad range of courses, you will examine art as an expression of experience in different periods and cultures and will develop your research and writing skills. In studio arts courses you develop your creative abilities. You may specialize in a particular period, a stylistic movement, a medium, a geography-based focus, or a combination. You can also take electives such as archaeology, architecture, history of costume, and religion.

History of art majors can pursue museum work, art criticism, arts administration, management of art-related businesses, or public information jobs in the arts.
