Our master of fine arts (M.F.A.) degree program in art video emphasizes the development of the individual as both an artist and intellectual. Unlike many programs that focus on digital multimedia or communications, we have a strong history and tradition in video art. Our rigorous curriculum mixes video studios with electives in computer art, film, and art photography. We also offer video art history and media arts theory courses as well as access to many other areas of study throughout the University.

Our active, internationally recognized faculty takes a tutorial approach with students that encourages co-creation. Faculty and students interact directly through their respective work. They exhibit together and connect with local and global communities together.

The video facility is equipped with mini-DV camcorders and production accessories. Post-production is done on digital non-linear systems, including a multi-track digital audio studio. Analog, linear systems are available for experimentation, archival research, and conservation. We also have one of the best international collections of artists’ videotapes in the United States.
