Department of Transmedia

In the Department of Transmedia, we offer a challenging environment for creating works of art using contemporary technology and a range of art media. You also study the pivotal histories and theories that have shaped many media arts genres.

Each of our four programs offers a wide range of courses and faculty expertise to choose from, providing both depth and breadth within a stimulating academic context. We want you to become an adept scholar who is cognizant of the psychological, social, and political implications of the world around you. We also want you to develop a strong vision and the capacity to act intelligently as an artist in relation to these concerns.

Our graduate students form a diverse and active community of professional peers who exhibit at local, national, and international venues; publish work in notable journals; and participate at established conferences. Our faculty are all practicing artists who have been recognized for their work with grants, international exhibitions, and lectures. They are actively involved in the Syracuse community, organizing screenings, film festivals, and exhibitions. They also bring a number of noted artists to campus each year to lecture or critique your work. We encourage you to come for a visit and experience our unique atmosphere for yourself.
