The bachelor of science (B.S.) degree program in environmental design (interiors) offers a four-year curriculum that addresses the goals of the interior design profession by promoting a balance between a broad liberal arts education and the specialized content of interior environments. The program shares space and courses with the bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) interior design program.
This program's study of interiors focuses on the relationship of interior design and architecture in its environmental context. The program is enhanced by environmental studies electives and a sequence in historic preservation. Summer study abroad and internships are encouraged. Minors in architecture, landscape architecture, construction management, and art history are available.
Graduates of our program look forward to positions in interior design, visual merchandising, and exhibition design. The program also provides a foundation for continued studies in architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, decorative arts, and architectural or art history.
Please note that students in this program begin their major sequence in their first year.
