CER 221 Introduction to Ceramics (3 credit studio course) Techniques and materials. Basic hand building. Development of personal direction.
 
FIB 225 Introductory Fibers and Interlocking (3 credit studio course) Basic techniques and practical experience in a variety of interlocking fiber process, including basic weaving, coiling, braiding, plaiting, knotting, crochet, etc.
 
JAM 271 Introduction to Jewelry and Metals (3 credit studio course) Fundamental techniques. Visual design problems as introduction to cutting, soldering, forging, finishing, electroplating, and other surface treatments.
 
PTG 256 Figure Drawing (3 credit studio course) Human figure as subject and tool for drawing ideas. Figure composition, historical significance, drawing media. Pre req – FND 113/114
 
PTG 282 Introductory Painting (3 credit studio course) Figurative and nonfigurative painting in oils or acrylic as the basis for study of color and form. Materials and approaches Pre req – FND 113/114

DES 200 Form Space Environment (3 credits) Experience in the three areas of interior Design, industrial design and environmental design.  Freshman studio.
 
Transmedia
 
APH 241 Introduction to Art Photography (3 credits) Principles of black-and-white photography. Camera and darkroom controls. Problems related to individual student requirements.
 
CAR 132 Procedural Composition (3 credits) The fundamental processes of procedural thinking and programming to create digital-based visuals. Techniques will be implemented in time-based and interactive art projects.
 
VID 211 Video Sketchbook (3 credits) A medium for perceptual and conceptual development. Most work done exclusively with camcorders. Editing equipment and instruction is available for projects requiring post production.
