Curriculum

The Department of Foundation Curriculum requires that each student take a minimum of 15 credits during the fall semester. Each student is required to take two required studios (FND 111, FND 113, FND 115, FND 117), one of two art/design history lectures (ART 111 or ART 113), WRT 105, and a studio elective or an academic elective. Starting Fall 2007 all students are required to take ART 101: First Year Colloquium. Students may choose to take two academic electives in the fall, bringing their total enrollment to 18 credits. Students are NOT allowed to take four studio electives during the fall semester.

During their spring semester, students must take the remaining two required studios, one of two art/design history courses( ART112 or ART 114), and one to three studio and or academic electives. All students are required to take WRT 205, which can be taken during the spring semester of their first year, or during their sophomore year.

Most students take three studio and two to three academic courses each semester, for a total of 30-36 credits. Consult the Undergraduate Catalog and Time Schedule of Classes for course offerings and times. For sample schedules, click here.
