William Padgett

Associate Professor, Communications Design

William Padgett is principal of WilliamPadgettDesign, a design studio serving regional, national, and international clients since 1976.

Since October 1978 he has taught in or been actively involved in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (advertising design, illustration, and communications design programs, 1978 to present); the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications (graphics, magazine design, and the military photojournalism program, 1987-1990); and the SU Independent Degree Study master’s program in illustration (thesis advisor, 1996-2003); and SUAbroad (studio arts in Florence, drawing and sketching, 2004-2005). He co-created the London Design Program and was chair of the Visual Communications Department (2000-2003). He was also involved in the Honors Program, the Soling Program, and the Multidisciplinary Design Center in SU:VPA. He was a COLAB faculty advisor.

Padgett recently accepted an appointment to be the first Syracuse University Florence Design Program coordinator and will be launching the newest international design program in Italy starting in the spring 2017 semester. This program will double the overseas SU design choices along with the successful London Design Program he co-founded with Don Carr in 2003.
