Nicholas Kowerko has directed more than 25 productions in various venues across the country. In 2010 he was a casting assistant at Boston Casting, where he worked on ABC Television’s "Body of Proof" with Dana Delaney; commercials for Dunkin’ Donuts, Gillette, and Verizon; as well as other independent feature films.
Kowerko was the assistant director to Paul Mason Barnes at the Great River Shakespeare Festival and completed a season-long directing assistantship at Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA), where he was also on faculty, teaching undergraduate courses in movement and Strasberg method acting. He has also taught at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, the Media Performance Institute in Boston, and the State University of New York at Fredonia. While at Fredonia, he worked in theatrical public relations for three years at Rockefeller Arts Center. He worked as a stage manager for a season at Nevada Conservatory Theatre.
As a writer, Kowerko has written scripts for devised pieces (Inertia: The Banjo Opera, The One They Call the Wind) and was a co-adapter for the musical Christmas is Here Again with Brad Carroll. He received an M.F.A. in theatre directing from the Actors Studio Drama School, where he also trained as an actor in method acting. He is a proud member of Casting Society of America, SDC Associate, and the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.
