Setnor School of Music
Assistant Director for Operations
Michelle Taylor earned a B.A. in music and studio art from SUNY Potsdam and a master’s degree in arts administration from New York University. Originally from Grand Island, New York, Taylor moved to the Syracuse area after a 14-year career at Carnegie Hall in New York City, most recently in the role of hall manager.
Her day-to-day responsibilities at Carnegie Hall put her at the front line of operational support, long-range planning, contract negotiations, event management, master scheduling, budgeting, and performance coordination. She had the opportunity to work with musicians, production managers, composers, arts administrators, local unions, performance staff, and the public.
Taylor began at Syracuse University in the School of Architecture’s Office of the Dean before coming to Setnor School of Music in February 2012. As assistant director for operations, she works on matters related to scheduling, maintenance, and management of facilities, and she coordinates the marketing efforts of the school.
