Jon Wilson is currently the general manager for Syracuse Stage. He first came to Stage in 2014 as the assistant director of ticketing and subscription services. Prior to that, Wilson worked as the administration and community programs manager for CNY Arts, the regional arts council.
Wilson spent five years working in New York City for such organizations as Playwrights Horizons, Playwright Horizons Theatre School, and Soho Rep., working with such artists as Bob Moss, Michael Mayer, Jim Simpson, Jack Gelber, Mac Wellman, Roger Rees, Nancy Marchand, and Jean Smart.
Locally, Wilson has worked as an actor, director, designer, and stage manager for nearly all of the community theater organizations in the Syracuse area, including Appleseed Productions, where he was the producing artistic director for over 11 years. Recent and favorite credits include And Then There Were None (director), Witness for the Prosecution (Mr. Mayhew), Spamalot (Not Dead Fred/Prince Herbert, stage manager), Frost/Nixon (John Birt), Hello, Dolly! (Cornelius Hackl), West Side Story (Riff), Noises Off (Frederick Fellowes/Philip Brent), and The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Rev. Crisparkle). Wilson also appears regularly with the ACME Mystery Company locally and throughout New York State and has performed with Cider Mill Playhouse and Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton and Hangar Theatre in Ithaca.
One of Wilson’s passion is working with youth in theater. He has done this in the Syracuse area as a director/teacher for Syracuse Children’s Theatre (seven years) and Gifford Family Theatre (eight years), as well as directing and designing productions for the drama clubs of Solvay High School (10 years) and East Syracuse-Minoa High School (two years).
