Programs of Study: Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree
The BFA in Drama is the degree that most of our acting students pursue. This degree requires 124 credit hours to graduate, 94 of which are earned in the department. This degree may be altered to accommodate a student who is more interested in directing and/or playwriting.
The BFA in Musical Theater is the degree for those students who wish to pursue a professional career as a musical theater performer. The 128 credit hours required to graduate include numerous skill classes in acting, dance, musical theater performance, and voice, both singing and speaking.
The BFA in Theater Design and Technology is the degree for students who wish to pursue a career in an area of design or technology. The degree is flexible enough for the student to develop a specific design skill such as costume, lighting, or scenery, or to develop technical skills in the same areas.
The BFA in Stage Management is the most recent addition to our career tracks and is designed for those students who wish to become professional stage managers.
Our curriculum checklists and year-by-year suggested courses for each degree programs of study can be found in the program requirements section of this website.
All students who enter our department must complete an audition or interview and the standard admission form at Syracuse University. At Syracuse, all drama students participate in the same foundation programs designed for their particular area (acting, musical theater, design/tech and stage management). |
