Welcome new VPA students! We are thrilled that you have decided to join us this fall. From this point forward, the VPA Office of Student Success will be your main point of contact for questions regarding advising, academic progress, and any others you might have as you start your academic career at Syracuse University.
The first step in the process is to confirm that you have received (and reviewed) your preliminary transfer credit evaluation letter in the mail. In order to make sure we have your latest information, regarding credits taken at other institutions, we need you to submit any and all final transcripts (grades from your final semester at your current institution) directly to our office. Please have official transcripts forwarded to the following address:
Office of Student Success
College of Visual and Performing Arts
200 Crouse College
Syracuse NY 13244-1010
If you completed coursework during the spring semester, you should wait until those grades have been applied before requesting a final transcript. Once we have processed your final transcripts, you will receive an updated credit evaluation letter or email outlining the number of transfer credits that have been accepted, as well as their SU equivalencies.
The second step is all about registration. VPA opens registration for transfer students in July. A representative from the VPA Office of Student Success will be in contact with you via email starting in early June to assist you in making an appointment with an advisor to discuss course selections so we can build your schedule in July. Beginning August 1 your class schedule will be available for viewing on MySlice.
Contact us if you have questions or concerns that are not addressed in this communication or in this section of our website. Our toll-free number is 1.800.295.2515 (available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, from May 22 until June 15, 2017). Before and after those dates, you may reach us by calling 315.443.2517. Remember, we are here to help you with your transition to SU.
A great resource to check this summer is ReadySet, which contains a variety of information for new transfer students at Syracuse University as well as a step-by-step guide to a successful and smooth transition to Syracuse University.
We look forward to meeting you in August during Syracuse Welcome 2017, when you will move into our University for the start of the best years of your life! Stay in contact by always checking your syr.edu email address, where we will be sending all the info you need to know from now on, and follow us on Twitter @SU_VPA_OSA.
Have a fantastic summer,
Vicki, Carlota, Hannah, Michele, Marleen, and Kali
