Orange Central is a once-a-year celebration for the entire Syracuse University community. Homecoming and reunion all rolled into one, it brings Syracuse University students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends together to enjoy dozens of activities, from lectures and panel discussions to campus tours, performances, and social and athletic events.

For alumni, Orange Central is a way to reminisce and reconnect, to explore SU’s newest places and programs, and to get to know today’s campus community. For students, it's the perfect time to show their Orange pride and enjoy a week filled with SU traditions hosted by the Traditions Commission, with free food, T-shirts, prizes, and more.

Invention Accelerator Showcase
Friday, October 6
10 a.m.-noon
This past summer, teams of undergrads--including industrial and interaction design students in the School of Design--became inventors in Syracuse University's first “Design, Prototype, and Pitch” competition. Come see their novel creations and speak with the student inventors! Free.

Melvin A. Eggers Senior Alumni Luncheon
Friday, October 6
Noon-2 p.m.
Enjoy a special luncheon at the former Hotel Syracuse as we honor VPA alumnus Warren “Cookie” Kimble ’57 with the Melvin A. Eggers Senior Alumni Award for his lifelong commitment, dedication, and service to his alma mater. Kimble is America’s best-known contemporary folk artist and considered one of today’s top home furnishings designers, with his images translated into dinnerware, rugs, furniture, textiles, and more. Music by a student string quartet.
Attire: Business casual 
Event cost: Charge includes three-course luncheon and beverages

Communication and Rhetorical Studies Alumni Lunch
Friday, October 6
1-2 p.m.
Reconnect with alumni and faculty; hear the latest about the communication and rhetorical studies program. Afterward, there will be an alumni panel for students. Free; includes lunch and refreshments.

Crouse College Chimes Tour
Saturday, October 7
8:15-9:40 a.m. (Several time slots available - 10 minute intervals)
Time slot one: 8:15–8:25 a.m. | Time slot two: 8:30–8:40 a.m.
Time slot three: 8:45–8:55 a.m. | Time slot four: 9–9:10 a.m.
Time slot five: 9:15–9:25 a.m. | Time slot six: 9:30–9:40 a.m.
Your Chimemaster tour guide will take you to the highest heights of Crouse College to see and hear the bells that compose the “Chimes of Crouse.” Guests can also visit Setnor Auditorium to hear the Holtkamp Organ. Please note that the bell tower tour requires steep staircase climbing and walking. Free.

Holtkamp Organ Presentation

9-9:30 a.m.
University Organist Anne Laver will take you on a historical trip featuring an up-close-and-personal visit with the Holtkamp organ housed in Setnor Auditorium, Crouse College. She will be available for questions and conversation about the organ following the presentation. Free.

Marching Band Photo
​Saturday, October 7
1.5 hours before the football game
Be on the Quad during the Gameday Tailgate for the traditional Marching Band performance on the steps of Hendricks Chapel, and listen for your cue to join the group on the stairs for the annual Marching Band photo. Receive a special Marching Band button! Free.

Hendricks Chapel Choir Sung Prayer
Saturday, October 7
Following the football game
The Hendricks Chapel Choir will give a 45-minute sampling of its weekly Sung Evening Prayer. Take this opportunity to connect with fellow alumni and current members of the choir. Receive a special Hendricks Chapel Choir button! Free; includes light refreshments.

Malmgren Concert Series: Anne Laver Faculty Organ Recital
Sunday, October 8
4-5:30 p.m.
University Organist Anne Laver performs a recital as part of the Malmgren Concert Series at Hendricks Chapel. The program features works for the organ by female composers on the chapel’s 1952 Holtkamp organ.
