Wear your favorite cosplay costume to the second Campus Cosplay Contest. The contest is open to the campus community and the public. If you don’t have a costume, you can come and check out the amazing work our community has to offer.

All cosplay genres are enthusiastically supported, whether superheroes, anime, video games, horror, movies, steampunk, history, LARPing, or any other pop cultural genre. Judges will include Jeff Watkins, owner of Cloud City Comics & Toys, and prolific cosplayer David Ramsay. Prizes will be given in three categories: skill/accuracy, creativity/vision, and performance/presentation.

Contestants should arrive for pre-judging between 2 and 3 p.m. so the judges can see your amazing work up close. There will be some public changing rooms available.

There is free admission and participation. Pre-registration is suggested but not required for contestants; it will help us estimate numbers and check out your character’s source ahead of time. You can download a form at the Facebook event page or email Chris at cwildric@syr.edu your name, your character’s name, and a source image of your character so we can compare it with your cosplay during the contest (picture not necessary if it is an original costume).

This contest is inspired by AIC 221 Cosplay, a School of Art class that focuses on making costumes and studying cosplay culture, taught by Chris Wildrick.
