NCA on the brain

The week before Thanksgiving for CRS scholars means a week in New Orleans, LA due to the National Communication Association's annual conference being held there this year. NCA is a national conference dedicated to the field of communication studies. Scholars from all around the country come to present their work and give feedback on other people's work. Faculty members, alumni, and current CRS grad students from Syracuse University will be presenting individual papers and panels at NCA later this week.

This will be my first time attending and I can't wait! First of all, I've never been to a conference of this magnitude so it will be a learning experience for sure. Secondly, I've never been to New Orleans and I'm predicting it will be amazing because of its history and warmer climate! ;) I'm grateful to have the financial support from the CRS department and VPA in order to go to NCA. This opportunity will benefit me as a graduate student and a developing scholar in communication studies. I'm proud of my faculty members and fellow grad students. Syracuse University will be represented well this year with the following CRS members presenting--Olivia Conti, Alexa Eisner, Virginia Ferrer, Emily Soule, Sally Spalding, Danny Stofleth and Katie Lind. Faculty members will be presenting papers as well as receiving distinguished awards for their contributions to communication scholarship.

Today I'm running around trying to get everything in place before I fly out tomorrow morning. I'm excited and will report back to you all about my time in New Orleans!
