Communications design is
working with the community
In this bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree program, design classes are modeled on professional practice. You will explore the creative process, communications theory and design history, and organizing and managing complex design projects, in addition to illustration, photography, typography, and production processes. Your classes also will cover advertising, marketing, communications, and business. Advanced students create a portfolio based on their own interests, such as corporate branding programs, publication design, exhibition design, web and interactive, packaging, and traditional and alternative advertising design.
Our students share studio space and classrooms in The Warehouse, Syracuse University's recently renovated building in downtown Syracuse. Our facilities include staffed Macintosh clusters and a student-organized wireless working studio environment available around the clock. The program sponsors an active student chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the professional association for design.
Graduates of our program work as designers and art directors at some of the best firms in the country.
