Illustrators arouse curiosity, stimulate interest, tell stories, and illuminate issues. Our bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree program balances imagination and individual expression with continual refinement of skills in drawing, painting, design, and research.

You take a variety of studio courses, including drawing, painting, illustration concepts, digital illustration, the history of illustration, and contemporary illustration practices, and you will develop familiarity with various media.

Each year our students’ work is accepted into the national Society of Illustrators competition as well as other professional venues. Students receive honors and awards from these professional competitions.

Alumni of the program go on to such careers as graphic novel artists, children’s book illustrators, and editorial and advertising illustrators, as well as creating concept art for animated films and video games.
