The objective of the advancement area is to identify and establish relationships with alumni, friends, and industry professionals who will support the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ mission and get involved with the college. This is accomplished through alumni relations and development. These areas focus on relationships with the overall objective of increasing the giving activity to the college in the form of scholarships and program support as well as increasing the funds in the discretionary account. In addition to advancing the efforts of the college, external relations also provides career development opportunities for our students, explores innovative academic programs, and brings diverse speakers to lecture on campus.

The office is comprised of two divisions:

The development area of the Office of Advancement is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor prospects for VPA and for developing strategies for prospects to align their giving with the college’s initiatives as well as Syracuse University initiatives.

Alumni affairs

The alumni affairs area of the Office of Advancement is responsible for coordinating the relationship between the college and its alumni. This includes such annual alumni events as Orange Central Homecoming + Reunion, special alumni events dictated by region or college area, and professional development activities for alumni. The office works closely with the SU Office of Alumni Relations to promote college alumni events and collaborate on special alumni projects or events.
