Guggenheim Fellow LaToya Ruby Frazier works in photography, video, and performance to build visual archives that address industrialism, rustbelt revitalization, environmental justice, healthcare inequity, family and communal history. In 2015 her first book The Notion of Family (Aperture, 2014) received the International Center for Photography Infinity Award. She was also named a 2015 TED Fellow and is an assistant professor of photography at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work is exhibited throughout the U.S. and internationally, with notable solo exhibitions at Brooklyn Museum; Seattle Art Museum; Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; and Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.

Michael Hession is a video producer and photographer. After graduating from the art video program, he went on to receive an M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has taught in SU:VPA's first-year foundation program and produced video for such outlets as Vice. He is currently senior video and photo editor at Gizmodo. “Some of the most valuable skills I put to use every day were instilled by SU:VPA professors, “ he says. “Learning how to think conceptually, understand culture, and challenge convention have been instrumental in driving my career. I owe that to my experience at Syracuse.”

Bill Viola is internationally recognized as one of today’s leading artists. He has been instrumental in the establishment of video as a vital form of contemporary art, and in so doing has helped to greatly expand its scope in terms of technology, content, and historical reach. For 40 years he has created videotapes, architectural video installations, sound environments, electronic music performances, flat panel video pieces, and works for television broadcast. His work has been shown worldwide and is in the collections of many distinguished institutions.
