The Department of Transmedia's programs are housed in the Dorothea Ilgen Shaffer Art Building on Main Campus. Shaffer is also home to illustration and painting programs in the School of Art, jazz studies in the Setnor School of Music, and Syracuse University Art Galleries. The building also contains a 60-seat lecture hall and the 300-seat Shemin Auditorium.
Transmedia facilities are media based, interdisciplinary, and not completely divided by major. For example, any transmedia student needing to edit sound uses the same facilities. This allows students to understand how interdisciplinary and often collaborative media arts can be.
The facilities include classrooms, faculty offices, a computer lab, and studios, including those for post-production, sound recording and editing, and photo lighting. The department also offers a 16mm film lab, a lighting and green screen room, and a black-and-white photo lab and darkroom. The Transmedia Cage houses all transmedia equipment, which students may check out and use.
Refer to your transmedia program of interest for more information about facilities.
