  • Our faculty members are all practicing artists and researchers whose work is exhibited internationally and receives international media attention.
  • You can take advantage of global study opportunities in such places as Florence, Italy, and engage with an impressive array of nationally and internationally known visiting artists who come to the School of Art each year.
  • When you graduate, you will belong to a global network of enthusiastic alumni, many of whom mentor students in achieving success at SU:VPA and beyond.

Comstock Art Facility

The sculpture program is located in Comstock Art Facility (ComArt), which is also home to School of Art programs in art education, ceramics, jewelry and metalsmithing, and printmaking. The spacious sculpture facilities provide dedicated workshops for such processes as metal casting, fabrication, and welding; wood and stone carving; clay; plaster; resins; and plastics, along with a state-of-the-art woodworking shop. We also offer ample workspaces for assembly, project spaces dedicated to installation and performance, gallery spaces for student exhibitions, outdoor casting and large-scale fabrication capabilities, semi-private studio spaces for undergraduate students, and private studio spaces for graduate students.

Visiting Artists

Throughout the year the sculpture program and the School of Art welcomes numerous nationally and internationally known visiting artists to campus. Spanning the disciplines, these artists, designers, and educators, some of whom are alumni, give presentations and lectures and often critique student work. They are a critical component of your artistic growth. Past guests have included Diana Al-Hadid, Doug Ashford, Bonnie Collura, Petah Coyne, Keith Edmier, Allan McCollum, Patricia Phillips, and Tom Sachs.
