The printmaking program offers you the opportunity for concentrated study through studio work in relief, intaglio, lithography, silkscreen, letterpress printing, hand papermaking, and book arts. You learn both traditional printmaking skills and new technologies that combine digital applications and mixed media.
As a student of printmaking, you will acquire a broad range of printmaking knowledge before deciding on an individual artistic specialization. You will learn both traditional printmaking skills and new technologies that combine digital applications and mixed media.
You'll also work with master printmakers and artists as part of our vibrant visiting artists program within Lake Effect Editions, our press. Each year we invite three to five professional printmakers to join us for a short-term residency, where they work closely with students and faculty to create a project. Students work side-by-side with the artist to create editions, print installations, sculptures, and collaborations. Additionally, as a member of our student-run print club, Graphic Arts League, you can participate in numerous events, field trips, and demonstrations related to printmaking.
Graduates of our printmaking program are professional master printers, studio owners, commercial artists, illustrators, and museum curators.
